Petsmart trainers are evil!  I used to be a PetsMart trainer about 7 years ago.  They're evil.  They barely know what they are talking about.  My friend and I got fired because we also trained guide dog puppies, and apparently that was a conflict of interest?  It was really a cover because they didn't like the fact that guide dog pups are trained without food, only collar corrections and praise, which goes against PetsMart philosophy.  Apparently dogs are supposed to fit into their mold?  The guy at the PetsMart here in Louisville tried to tell me I needed to put Raiden on valium or prozac!  Apparently he's never seen a puppy with energy and drive before, he didn't know what to do with him.  Poor Ray, he doesn't need prozac, he needs play!  And exercise!  Dumb guy.

I remember Ray's sister, Lucy?  Or Lily? I have a few baby pictures of her.  She was a little spitfire! I remember she had all her brothers under her little thumb.  Do you have any recent pictures or her?  Or any of the siblings?  I saw some pictures of full brother Cody from the same litter up on your website, he looks like a Raiden clone!

Tiki had her first herding training yesterday.  She did FANTASTIC!  She really impressed everybody, especially the lady that was helping me start her in the pen with the sheep.  She was naturally staying to the outside of the sheep and trying to keep them off the fence, instead of moving to the inside of them or trying to run in between them.  She didn't once cut off the handler (apparently a normal green dog mistake) she was watchful of both the handler and the sheep and responded well to the staff.  She had the sheep completely stressed, which they said was good, it meant she had good body language and presence to communicate to the sheep who was boss.  At one point the lady in the sheep pen with me dropped her staff and scared the sheep, so the sheep split and five sheep went right and two sheep went left and Tiki instinctively cut left back toward the mini-herd.  That *really* impressed everyone that she did that with absolutely no training.  They said she was the perfect dog for me as a beginner.  Whenever a sheep tried to get loose she'd naturally move to cut it off, so they said she'd really do well in both driving and cutting.  They said most dogs are only good at one or the other, so having a dog that can do both gets you higher scores in trials.  She shied from the sheep the first time they bolted past her but stood her ground the second time it happened.  She liked to sniff their butts as she was trotting behind them, which was hilarious, but the sheep didn't appreciate it too much!  I forgot the camera this time, but I'll definitely get some next time.  I didn't work Raiden because I was afraid he'd try and eat the sheep!  They'd just been sheared, so there was no fluff to protect them if he decided to taste them.  But they're going to let me work Tiki for a few months until I get familiar with it and then start Raiden with a strong handler in there with me in case his prey drive takes over.  I'll be sure and get pictures next time!

Hi Dawn,

My husband Richard and my daughter Samantha met you at the airport when they went to pick up my puppy and i hear that you have a black tri mini male for sale. Samantha said you said four hundred for him. Could you please send me some pictures. I am very interested and could send you a deposit immediately. How very ironic that you all met and talked about your dogs.

kimmelot

I am sure my husband told you of his German Sheppard Tora. What a small world it can be. As soon as i saw your card i recognized the Kimmelot name as that is where Tora's sire is. She is by elegant evening eli. As you can tell she is the love of his life. Isn't that something.........We bought her from a Barbara and i cant remember their names. Anyway from Marysville. Please send me some pictures of the pup and parents. I did call but your voicemail does say that the best way to get in touch with you is email.

Thank you- Vicki McDaniel

Hi Dawn and Whisper,

This is Valerie Fermor. I purchased my first GSD (Roxy) from you 1 year ago and my 2d, Beaufort, last January. Well, I thought I should send you some recent pictures of them both so you can see how beautiful they are! Beaufort is doing very well ,he's very bright ,gentle just like Roxy and is a very loving boy.

kimmelot

We are so happy with both of our dogs and love them so much. However, I would like to see if you can help me out with a little issue I have with Roxy. She had pretty large ears to start with and it took them a long time to stand up. The thing is that they are still flopping around whenever she moves ,she's 14 months old. As you can see in the photos ,they do stand up but it does somewhat ruins her beautiful looks when she starts to move around. I would Really appreciate if you know of anything I can do to correct this?

Thank you very much,
Valerie

Hi Dawn,
It has been over 3 years since we got the puppy from you. We named him Fero after his maternal grandpa. His the pup of Maybeline Beauty and Rhythm Flyer in 03.  Attached is a pic of him and our 1 year old baby.
kimmelot

Fero does extremely well with the baby, he never got jealous of her and is very loyal and protective.  You have done a wonderfully breeding the top quality German Shepherd.

Have a nice weekend,
Rebecca

Dear Dawn...

I think it's been 3 to 4 years since our last correspondence via email. I was in Bali contacting you for everything I need to know about GSD and you were very supportive and helpful.

My name is Ferry if you shall remembering...I am a very big fan of GSDs and you are the very first breeder i contacted and idolizing for keeping one GSD soon after.

My dog has been there with me for 4 and a half consecutive loyal years and now I am facing a fact that he's not able with me anymore since he passed me away by April 30, 2007.

I am sad and full of grievance allowing him to go after he got no cure for parvovirus and also a symptoms of gastrointestinal diseases also a problem with his kidney for 4 YEARS.

I just feel that I have to share these with you, since you are the first person who lets me
know for real what a GSD could give to us as his loyalties, alertness, and friendships , also ready to die for...for me.

Dawn, thanks for all the stuffs we've talked in the past. It helps me through this feeling of losing him everyday of my life.

If there any suggestions for me about GSD diseases and possible cause-to-death problems for the dogs, allow me to thank you for feed me back at the articles or ;your own experiences.

It is very kind to meet such a person that the dog can count on so securely...as helpful as you are...thanks again Dawn.

Hope to hear from you soon....

Yours sincerely and from the guy who loved GSDs,

FERRY
(I am in Surabaya, East java, Indonesia right now)
thanks Dawn...

I will send some pictures of Lucy so you know the color I am looking for in a male. I also thought you might want to see the girl grown up a bit more. I will have to several e-mails as the picture size is large.

Best

Dear Dawn,

My name is Janel Costanzo, I purchased a puppy from Debby White (Deblyn's Kennels) back in 1995, she was one of your puppies. Her parents were Taska Kantu and Grand Sampson. Born 12/94. First, I would like to thank you for creating such a wonderful dog. Your breeding program is fantastic, having had other German Shepherd dogs, the health and temperament of this dog cannot be compared. I have had many compliments from vets through the years.

Now that she's almost 12 1/2 years old we had been experiencing normal age related problems (mild arthritis). I have an appointment for her tomorrow as she has started to become incontinent and somewhat confused. The advice I'm seeking is in your opinion on the older German Shepherd. I have a feeling that this dog will never stop trying to be near me making sure I'm "o.k.", no matter how much pain or discomfort she is in, leaving me with the question of when to let her go? I'd appreciate your expert opinion on what you have seen as far as age related illness in an otherwise very healthy dog?

Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon. I apologize for the lengthy e-mail I'm just trying to get as much advise as possible.

Janel

Dawn Dalyce's Response:

Hello Janel,

If she can be outside, so incontinence is not a problem, and you can give her an Advil once or twice a day so her arthritis doesn't bother her too much...maybe some glucosamine and chondroitin for her joints, I think she can be kept with you as long as she's happy. ..the best products I know are the NuVet Joint Plus, and Nuvet Plus for dogs www.nuvet.com/37945 if you order using the 37945 at 800-474-7044 you can get 15% off.

You can tell if a dog has quality of life, if they are smiling, happy to eat, or see you, or look around the yard or house, once that is gone, and there is more pain than pleasure, they can't enjoy eating, they withdraw, and aren't interested much in their people or surroundings, then it's your responsibility to send them gently to doggie heaven, cause they'll stay around and suffer, just to be loyal to you.

Thank you for writing, and giving your GSD a great home :) We always love to hear our dogs have been a blessing and are treasured :)

Dawn Dalyce

Hello Dawn,

We had a great day today. It was only a B match(for fun) and didn't count for anything real, but DeJ won best of breed puppy! The class was only 3 dogs including us, but that's ok with me. DeJ was so well behaved and calm, everyone just loves him. Now, we have to wait for him to turn 6 months so we can move on to the real shows(April 17th). With any luck I will have figured out how to get the pictures on here and write a cute letter for your web site. Hope things are well with you guys. Will talk to you again soon.

Hello Whisper and Dawn,

We purchased our pup from you last summer. She's a beautiful girl named Aja (pronounced Asia) that was born in City's May 29, 2006 litter with Chaos. She is a wonderful dog and is extremely intelligent -- almost too intelligent, as she still takes the time to decide on whether she wants to follow a command or not! She blew the other dogs away in Puppy Kindergarten, as she already knew all the commands and exercises before she got there! Her coloring is spectacular, with beautiful bands on her chest and eyes, and her coat seems to be a semi-long coat, with mixed coloring and a lush softness to it. She's been a great dog, and she loves our new little baby, who was born in October. I have attached some pictures of them together. Aja just licks the baby whenever she can, and she lays in front of the crib when the baby is sleeping. And although she still has a lot of that puppy rambunctiousness, she's growing into the great family dog we always wanted!

Thanks for everything, and feel free to get in touch!

Hi Dawn,

That was good! Hope you are doing well.  All is well on our end.  Our dog, Zena that we got from you has really taken over our whole house.  She is in almost all the time we are home and even lets herself and the other dog in the house when we aren't home! But, we love her so much.  She is a fantastic "member of our family."

Janet

Well, hard to believe but yes it is true. Ahnya and her siblings are one year old today. I am not sure you will enjoy this or not but I thought I would send along a year in the life kind of, of her sweetness. Seems like yesterday I was waiting and waiting for just the right pup and four litters later there she was! And now look at us! We are actually considering going Agility with her now! I think she would really enjoy it. She loves to run and play. Thanks for everything with this little girl! Maybe one day I can add another to our little pack here.
Enjoy!

Stacy

Anyway, without further Ado, here is Schon Ahnya Vom Gypsy Winds as she grew.

I just wanted to say hi and let you know Halo is doing wonderful.  He is so smart (opens all our doors now) and we love him so much.  He is about 5 months old now and weighing in at a little over 50 pounds.  Not sure if that is good or not you will have to let me know if 50 pounds is a good weight for his age.  But he looks good.  All up to date on his shots so that is nice we are holding off on getting him neutered since he hasn’t acted out much we don’t feel any sense of urgency to get it done.  He is beautiful.  I will send a picture as soon as I get some film developed.  Doesn’t bother the kids anymore, hasn’t chewed on anything (knock on wood) and all his baby teeth are gone (we found one and kept it).  Only thing we struggle with is brushing his dang teeth.  But my daughter is 1 ½ and even she doesn’t like having her teeth brushed.  We are just so impressed with how well he is doing.  We got a treadmill for him (hand me down) so in the morning he goes on that and in the evening he goes on a long walk or he runs while I ride the bike.  We are leaving him for 4 days at the end of the month so that will be a sad day.  But the guy who trained Halo was nice enough to offer to stay at our house while we are gone with his German shepherd so Halo will be spoiled no doubt.  Talk to you soon

Cooling Off

Two Best Friends

Hi Dawn,

Well here are some pictures. The ones with my daughter are not the greatest, I will send a better one when I can get both of the 2 1/2 yr olds (dog and daughter) to sit still. Was Kayla's mom from you ??? Her name on her pedigree is LFR Sheba of Ethan. And Kayla's name was Wunder Konigin Von Sheba. We went with Kayla only because we didn't know how any of her 3 previous owners treated her and we didn't want to call her the same name. One of the amazing things about this dog is that in her first yr of her life she had 2 different owners, One dog that used to pick fights with her and a brief life in a Shelter and then at a rescue and finally she ended up with us just before she turned one. And from the first day never ever was a bit mean to my kids, me or my husband. She has been awesome ever since. I think she is amazing. And she lives peacefully up here in Gridley Ca, on 5 acres with me being a stay at home mom, my son who is 6 and my husband, 5 cats, 1 horse, and lots of fish. What a great dog.

Thank you, Isa

The one picture is Kenzie and Kayla cooling off, The others are just pics of two best friends.

Breeders Note: This is a Kimmelot/ Living Faith Ranch grand-fur kid. We and the Peaster's have policy that our puppies never end up in rescue, and take and re-home any in an emergency, but sometimes people divorce or something and don't even think to call their breeder. All good Breeders will take their dogs back so they're never in shelters. Dawn

Best Of  Breed - Group 3

Best Of  Breed - Group 2

I'm pleased to announce that Mr. Raiden, this weekend at the Indiana UKC show, finished his championship in style, going Best in Show over the top White Shepherd in the region!!
I can't wait for the pictures to come back, he looked great! Not bad for an 8 month puppy :) The judge (and everyone else there) couldn't believe he was only 8 months old. And I had someone offer me any amount of money to buy him on the spot, he followed me around for about 20 minutes thinking I'd change my mind.

We stopped and bought Raiden a fat cheeseburger on the way home. He won a squeaky toy and a pretty embroidered towel that says United Shepherd Club, Best in Show and has the date on it. We'll have to buy a towel rack and hang it above his crate!

Lindsey & Champion Ray!

I have to brag to someone :) My husband doesn't care too much and my mom has no idea what I'm talking about, so Group 2 on Saturday and Group 3 on Sunday! And now he's got all 3 of his competition wins :)

Lindsey & Raiden

Not sure we could top today! In the morning he went Best Male for 1 of his UKC majors, and Best of Breed, then this afternoon he went Best Male, Best of Breed, and Group 2! That gives him 2 majors and 60 points in 1 weekend! He just needs one more Best Male win and enough points to total 100 and he'll be a UKC champ! Everyone loved him, except the other shepherds we beat :)

Lindsey & Raiden

Great news! Raiden's first UKC show was today and he went reserve! The judge said he was "stunning", but really gangly at this age. She thinks he'll be unbeatable as an adult, though. And when we got home, the correct AKC registration was in our mailbox with the right birthday! Thanks so much for nagging the AKC and harassing them until they did it right. Sorry it was so much trouble. More shows Saturday and Sunday, maybe he'll win something bigger!

Lindsey & Raiden

Hi Dawn,

Thank you so much for talking with me on the phone the other day. It was nice to get more info on Ryker.

Here is a picture of Blitzen, 14 months (Ryker/Dakota 2005). We sure love him. I hope Greg and Kim like the pic.

That other website I was on was just a blog and the name of the dog did not have LFR and the picture did not look like your Ryker. Anyway, I will enjoy your web site again.

Take care
Lisa

Hi Dawn,

Thought you would enjoy these pictures of Stella. She loves it here in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. She loves chasing the squirrels and rabbits in our back yard. Took her to Lake Wazeecha which is only about 3 miles away from our home and she just let loose and had a ball playing and diving into the water. It was like she was a whined up toy that someone wound up all the way and just let it go. I had so much fun laughing and watching her do her "crazies" lol But before she got all wet she allowed me to take some beautiful pics of her.
I am sending the pics in seperate emails cause there are a few.

Did I mention how much I love this baby girl? Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed taking them and watching her.

Hugs, Shell & Stella

These are bad pictures because I took them with a digital video camera not a still camera. I haven’t quite figured out how to email the video but I will. He is a blessing. He has pooped twice out side (both solid poops) and peed twice outside and once this morning before I went to work. He slept pretty good last night. Some of the time in his crate (I slept on the floor next to his crate J ) and some of the time on a pillow next to me only time he cried was when he wanted out of his crate. He was up until 1:00 last night. He Chased my son through my bedroom for 20 minutes straight last night before I made him rest. He is not scared at all. Just perfect. I am so sorry I didn’t answer when you called I didn’t mean to worry you my phone was in the car. Chad will be taking him to the vet today. Talk to you soon. He is very happy.

We've fallen off the deep end :) We have been thinking of adding to our furry children, and we were wondering what litters you have coming up? Any out of Elegant Evening Eli or any show litters? We were thinking of a female this time, but haven't quite decided yet of adding to the chaos here! Although, since our older Dalmatian won't have anything to do with Raiden, I'm sure he'd appreciate a playmate! He hit 100 pounds this week. He'd been holding steady at 90 for awhile, but I've been biking him little bits letting him jog next to the bike, and he's put on a lot of muscle. The AKC judge last weekend said his side gait wasn't quite long enough, but the rest of his was great, and he just looked like he needed some roadwork. So the vet advised us what was an okay distance for his age to be jogging and we hit the roads!

Every time we say "girlfriend?" or "sister?" he stops what he's doing, cocks his head, and runs over to us.

Lindsey

Just updating you on Cody! I attached some photos from this morning. He is still all puppy and loves to play. SMART SMART SMART!
Hope all is well!
Joan

Hi Dawn,

I hope all is well with you. I thought I'd send you a picture of Henry, (who is 15 months old now and doing great), with his new pal and companion, Jeffrey, a golden retriever, who is 15 weeks old. Henry really loves having Jeffrey to play with and they wear each other out.

That's our news. Hope you're having a nice summer,
Karen

Hi Dawn!

Everybody's fine. How have you been?
Attached is a picture of Zena.  She will be 5 years old in December.  She is an excellent friend/family member. She is soooo sweet. We love her very much.

Here's also a picture of our 3 year old daughter, Shelby. Zena guards her like crazy!

Steve

Ok, I have no one else to brag to, my family's getting tired of me talking about Raiden all the time! Here's his latest picture, still learning how to stack, but cookies help a lot! :) He's got a puppy match the evening of June 9th and on the evening of June 16, then on the 19th we head for Kentucky! Once there, Raiden will be old enough for the real shows! And, since we're in UKC territory, we're going to show him a bit in those rings. We took him to our favorite doggy swimming hole yesterday, and he fell in! He didn't seem to like the falling in part, but liked getting wet then rolling the dirt afterward. He's also loosing teeth like a banshee, I keep finding them everywhere, and he's leaving blood all over his fleece stuffed man (well, it's only a skin these days, but he loves it so much I can't throw it away) so between the washing machine and his toting it around all day, inside and out and bleeding on it, it's not going to last much longer! But his ears have stayed up through it all :). He also howls (sings) to the band Alabama :) And if Matt starts howling, Raiden joins in. I didn't know I lived with a wolf pack! We'll let you know how his puppy match goes!

Lindsey:)

Hi Whisper, hope all is well with you.

We wanted to forward some pictures of Trey and let you know he is doing wonderful.  He is full of energy, loves to play and work.  He is growing so fast it's amazing.  We just love him!!!!  Thanks much for breeding these beautiful animals.

Pam & Mark

Dawn,

Long time no talk. Had a question for you. Are there any good exercises I can do with Gunner to strengthen his leg/hips? He surprised the heck out of me the other day by jumping into my daughter’s tree-house (about 5 feet off the ground) with no difficulty. He has a huge back yard to run around in these days (we moved to Boise Idaho from California) and I occasionally take him for a jog (maybe 3 miles) but I avoid too much strenuous activity because I am a paranoid owner and don’t want to end up hurting him.

He’s a great dog and the whole family loves him. My parents are amazed at his focus and attention to his surroundings and ability to pick up on our apprehension (ie door to door salesmen). Thanks again for selecting such a great addition to our family.

John Dyer

Hello Dawn,

It's been a long time since we've been in contact with you. Time flies!! We purchased a GSD pup from you last July 9th; Ryker x City pup from May 21st litter. "Solomon" is the greatest dog my wife and I have ever known. It's hard not to brag about him every where we go and with everyone we meet. He's absolutely beautiful and perfectly regal. Problem is, he needs a playmate.

We were thinking October would be a good time to bring home a mate, female would be nice but male would be okay. As a matter of fact, any shepherd under a year would be okay if you have some older pups on hand at that time.

Let us know what you know and we can start the process when the time comes.

Thanks,
Steve and Susan

Hello

I just wanted to tell you how happy we are with our puppy. we love him so much and he is sooo smart. He plays fetch just like his mom soda.

We get so many complements on what a beautiful dog he is. we named him cody, but we registered him as csi commander cody bear #703. because my husband just retired from the san francisco police dept.

I lost whisper's email, but tell her we are very happy.

Thank you
Jill Hernandez

Hi Dawn!

Cody is getting big!
Great disposition! Big lap dog!!

Joan

I  just have to thank you for such a wonderful little puppy! He is the cutest thing, and loves to follow Matt around the house when he's home. The lab was a bit jealous at first, but has now discovered that Raiden will play with him, and they just wear each other every evening, it's perfect! He got a little carsick on the way home, so he got a bath upon arrival and now smells like baby powder from the puppy shampoo. But he hasn't gotten sick when I put him in the car to check the mail, and when he went to Matt's office to see everyone, so I think it was a fluke :). Both nights we've put him in his crate, and he hasn't made a peep, and almost sleeps through the night! And he hardly whines during the day if I put him in there to take a shower, he's already crate trained himself! And he already knows to go to the back door when he has to go to the bathroom, so other than the first hour or so, he's had no accidents. I keep telling the 9 month lab that the baby shepherd is beating him in the housetraining department, because bratty Lewis doesn't know how to ask to go out, he just waits for you to take him, and if you wait too long, he just goes. Matt just loves telling everyone his new puppy is a genius! :)

Thank you!
Lindsey

Man o Man is Lucy a tough one. She walked over to Jesse’s cage and Jesse growled and barked at her. She just gave the business right back to Jesse. She growled and barked right back. She was not taking anything he had to dish out. Of course we are keeping them separated for now. Lucy is extremely smart and really a great puppy. She already likes her crate and has adjusted just fine. She already has her bathroom spots outside and will not go in her crate. We have hidden balls outside to trick her and she always finds them. She is very affectionate and loves to play with our Border Terrier, Casper. We are very pleased with her.

That’s all for now.
Terry Hunt

Hey Dawn!

Hope all is well for you out in sunny California!!

I just wanted to give you a head’s up – I have referred you to a guy named Tom Gilmartin who may be contacting you in the near future about getting a puppy. He lives in California and is moving to NC for work, and he and his wife Sara are looking for a GS puppy. They put out some feelers to find a breeder and I referred him to you through a friend of a friend. I made the referral not knowing he was in California – so it’s kind of ironic!

Let me know how it goes! Georgia is doing great – so sweet and wonderful! I couldn’t have asked for a dog with a better disposition and temperament!

Thanks again!

Hi Dawn,

Ya know, I really should have brought my camera the other day because I have had to go to other peoples websites so I can get a puppy fix!  LOL

We really enjoyed meeting you guys and seeing all the pups and adults too.  It was nice to meet City, Moxie, Soda, Boomer, Gypsy, and Princess and have a face and personality to put to their names.  I really liked Boomer a lot and hope the puppy turns out similar to him as he has a nice personality and temperament.  Gosh, his personality and temperament with moms darkness and dads rich color……perfect pup!!!  LOL  I am still so excited about the new girl and have been shopping for her already.  Looking for just the right color collar and leash, her own bowl for feeding, her personal toy.  Each dog here has their own toy and that is what they are allowed to chew on.  I have also been doing more breed research so I know as much as I can about her before she comes home.  And, I have been preparing my girl, Ruby for her new “Baby”.  She is getting to the point where when I ask if she wants to have a baby she gets all excited.

You will have to let me know when their eyes open so I can come back down and see them again.  It seems like so far away before we can bring her home, but, the time between the birth of City’s litter and now has passed so quickly and here it is, they are going to their new homes already.  Oh by the way, I love the way you guys set up the two whelping rooms.  Very functional.  I love functional!!!

Well, I really just wanted to say thank you for introducing us to everyone and showing us around. I have to go get more laundry done.  I don’t know why I bother, they are just going to make things dirty again!  Sheesh!  LOL

Talk to you soon,
Stacy

Hi Dawn,

Hey long time no talk. Jesse is still doing great and is a wonderful dog. He is of course full grown and weighs 125 to 130 pounds. He is huge and so beautiful. We get compliments on him all the time. I will have to send you a picture of him. Well, we finally lost Dalai, our Lhasa Opso after 15 years. She is now in dog heaven. We did about a year ago buy a male Border terrier and Jesse has a romping playmate. Casper, the Border terrier and Jesse, really love each other and rough house all over the yard. I am writing to ask you about a female shepherd. I would like to get a female shepherd to replace Dalai girl. Do you have a current litter? Do you still raise shepherds? Can I get pick of the litter again? I think I would like a female that is a little more aggressive and intense than Jesse? What do you recommend? Can we talk?

Best
Terry

Thanks and I will look into the nutabs and stuff!  Starr thinks it is her job to 'herd' Max everywhere he goes - Max was brought up with our previous dog, Samantha, so he is sure that Starr is his new mommy - they are very funny together!

Hi Dawn,

We hope you had a nice Thanksgiving and have a wonderful holiday season ahead. Here are some pictures of Henry, who is six months old. He's doing great!

Take care, Karen Oldroyd and family

Hello Dawn,

Hope you are doing well. Our Shepherd pup is from Ryker and City which we adopted from you in July of 2005- born May 21st same year. He's doing great and is so handsome; and smart as the dickens!! We get compliments on him everywhere we go.

Two quick questions. First, we are planning on having him neutered but we're getting mixed advice. Is it true that neutering the dog before he's  one year old will stunt his growth?? We would like to see Solomon grow to his full potential. He does have a mild hernia on his tummy which we were going to have fixed at the same time. Now I'm not sure. What do you think??

Secondly, do you keep your grown Shepherds on Bil Jac?? We are pleased with this product and want to be sure that this is what's best for our boy as he grows into adulthood next year!! Your advice and opinions mean the world to us.

Thanks so much for you time. Check out the photo we sent. We see a lot of Ryker in him!

Hi Dawn, yes, he's so smart! I'm bragging here.... but he was potty trained in a couple of weeks and through the night at 3 months, he learned "sit" in a day, he knows "down" and he "comes" most of the time. He also knows "outside", "on your matt" and "Off!". Norm taught him to get the paper at the top of the driveway and bring it to him at the backyard patio, which he does every morning. Henry loves to play fetch and Frisbee and soccer with the kids. He just learns everything so quickly! Like not to bark at everything, he's already discerning what to bark at. And how quickly he remembers people, it's amazing. My proudest moments are at puppy school. His trainer is Laura at Laura for Dogs out of Livermore, who is amazing and loves German Shepard's. Henry does so well there and is calm and attentive.

Henry is shy of other dogs, but I'm sure he'll grow out of it. We did get him a little early, but I'm sure with the class, more trips to the small dog park and also getting a puppy play group started soon, he'll be more comfortable around dogs. He sure loves kids and people and he greets everyone at the park and sits right down on the kid's laps! You asked early on how I was enjoying my "furry son" and that's exactly what he is to me, my furry son! Anyway, thanks for keeping in touch and if you are ever in the Danville area, you should come by for a visit. Talk to you later, Karen Oldroyd

Hi Dawn, here is Henry at 3 and a half months. His ears are both standing up now, so he looks older now! Hope all is well, Karen Oldroyd and family

Hi Dawn, here are some pictures of Henry, taken this past week at three months old.  He is such a joy and growing so fast.  I could go on and on about how wonderful he is, but you already know.  I hope all is well with you! Much love, The Oldroyds

Hi Dawn,

I just thought I'd give you an update on Henry. He's doing great and everyday he seems more comfortable and relaxed. We got him lots of chew toys and he's when he's not napping or playing on the lawn, he's chewing on his toys. Henry just loves the lawn, especially the shady spots.

He wasn't eating the dry kibble in the beginning, so I've been moistening his kibble with goat milk and he's been eating well. Sometimes I give him a slightly scrambled egg mixed with his kibble, I hope that's okay. His Nu Vet tablets arrived and he's taking those. He likes the Royal Canin Baby Dog best.

He's such a joy! Norm took him to meet the ladies at the bank and he's such a charmer. He greets people he knows already, wagging his tail and licking. He follows Norm and I right by our side when we walk him around the property and he likes to nap right next to us.

So that's the latest on Henry. He's more wonderful than we hoped he would be. I'll send pictures soon. Take care, Karen Oldroyd
Dawn, We bought a German Shepherd from you Feb. 2003. He is positively the best dog I have ever been around let alone got to have as our pet!!!!! When we take him out with us , you would not believe the people that say things like " He is a magnificent looking animal" " He is the most beautiful dog I've ever seen" It is really wonderful that people take to him that way. We wouldn't sell him for a million dollars!!!!! Anyway I just wanted to know if it is OK if I give out your #? I know you may not have dogs all the time, but I think it would be good to have a list?? So if you would let me know I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Dale Carter

Hi Dawn,

I was looking in the paper ads and saw your ad with your website and took a look at it. Very nice! I thought maybe you would like a picture of the best dog in the world, Simba, to put on your previous progeny page. He is Taska and Samson's the first one I got from you. He was 11 years on Sunday. he has been such a joy for all these years. I know his time is getting short, he has arthritis and I notice he is not hearing well, but he is still enjoying things, slowly chasing birds, pigs ears and belly rubs.

I guess I never really thanked you for such a perfect dog. I love him so much, I know it will be so hard to let him go, hopefully that won't be for a long time. Thanks again....you did good!

Thank you for sending us the pictures!

My name once again is Brian, my daughters name is Rachel, aged 12. We are second time buyers, we bought a dog from you a about 7 years back, and are looking to get another very soon. We are excited to have a new addition to our family. We were very pleased with our first dog, thats why we decided to buy another dog from you.

Thank You for your time and were looking forward to seeing you and the puppies!

Dawn

What a pleasure to be able to spend my afternoon with such fine people and animals too. I appreciated the time that you and Gene spent with all of us today. I was extremely excited to see and touch my future "SON" and listen to your knowledge of the breed and the experience that you both have in the German Shepard world!

Thank you again for a lovely day and I hope that we will be able to get up there again soon. I was looking at my work schedule and the 29th or the 30th would work out best for Brooke and I both to come and look at our future boy. I hope that this would be ok. Also you said I just needed to have him paid in full when I pick him up correct?

Thank you for your time and knowledge.

Hi Dawn,

Norm and I and our kids want to thank both you and your husband for our nice visit to your ranch yesterday. We enjoyed meeting you both and seeing your animals, especially the German Shepard puppies. We learned so much helpful information and are more excited than ever to bring our puppy home.

Norm and I would like to see if we can come on Thursday, June 30th, if that works for you, to confirm our puppy and then we'll return on July 16th, when the puppy will be 8 weeks old, to pick him up.

We would very much like a large puppy, with a personality between 3 and 4, tan color in the face (and some red tones, if possible) and the "pick of the litter". Although we won't be breeding the dog, we would still prefer the best of your litter and hope you will choose and hold that puppy for us, until we can confirm it on June 30th, if that is a good day for us to come.

Please let me know if this is all right and thank you again, Karen Oldroyd

Hi Dawn,

Raider at about nine months, about ninety pounds. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so here's three thousand words.

Bart Paulding

Raider
Hey there from Haynes and Georgia in Georgia!! Hope all is well in sunny California!!

I wanted to let you know that Georgia’s hips were rated OFA Good – so I am excited to breed her now for some family dogs.

How much of the German lines vs. American lines should I be looking for to breed Georgia to (she’s an Eli/Party daughter)? And are there any physical characteristics that I should watch out for (such as long pasterns) based on your knowledge of your dogs and their physical characteristics?

Thanks for your help, as always!!

Kona
Here is some pictures of Kona . Eli and Moxie daughter. I'm the lady that works at PETSMART. Kona is doing great , she's had 1 beautiful litter 4 months ago and was a great mom. The pups are beautiful also. Kona will be 2 this July. I'm working on getting her ready for some obedience shows this fall. I'll let you know when she gets titled. Melinda
Hello Whisper and Dawn,

First, we hope everything went well with Moxie's litter.

I thought I would drop you a quick note to let you know that our Precious little girl is doing very well. She is such a delightful and sweet companion. She is adapting nicely and is completely potty trained (only took a week). She is so smart! She is healing, sitting, staying, etc. And yes, having a lot of fun. She is wonderful with kids and other dogs. She is very socialized. She likes the beach but not a fan of the water yet. Enjoys long walks in the park and like to run with me. Her favorite toys are her tennis balls, her rawhide bones, and a small stuffed teddy bear that she carries around but does not chew. She is getting so big. Neighbors and friends just lover her and she them.
We have officially registered her with the AKC - Precious Spirit. We tried just Precious but Precious alone had its full allotment already. Spirit was one of the names we considered naming her. Spirit also has a more profound significance to us. Precious was born on September 23rd, one day before our beloved Tahoe was put to rest. We feel there that there is a sort of spiritual connection between Precious and Tahoe, especially when Precious does something Tahoe always did as habit.

Anyway, we feel blessed to we were steered in your direction and being exposed to Precious (then Feona). Fate would have it that she was meant for us. A neighbor recently said "I sure hope Precious realizes she has died and gone to heaven." She is in a loving home and is surrounded by people and animals that adore her.

Precious Feona

Attached are pictures from early on. I will send you more recent photos as soon as they are developed.
Hope all is well with you both.

Best,

Rich and Sandy Rosemont

Dawn,

Just wanted to let you know Gunner is maturing with age and is shaping up to be an outstanding member of the family. We keep him on about 70/30% Kibble/Can food mix and he is VERY happy. He is still a spaz at times but he is careful with the kids and talks to us when he wants something. His talking is a form of whining that actually sounds more like a monkey than Shepherd but it's funny nonetheless. We're getting compliments wherever we go. Thanks again for picking the right dog for us,

John & Gina & Emily & Brian

Hi Dawn,
As you can see our boy is all grown up and is a loving boy and obeys very well now that he is calmer. It has helped him to have a playmate that can run and be wild with him. He can jump off our 2 layered deck out 6 feet and within a few inches of my head as I walk past it on an errand. He loves to play ball and loves to help me work in the garden way out back. He has a bowling ball out in back I let him play wit for awhile and he pushes it around backwards with his feet until he wants it to move a certain way and if it doesn't co-operate he gripes at it like he is talking to it. When he pushes it around too long he will get a sore on his nose so I don't let him play with it much. When put on a leash he is calm obeys and walks slow for me since I have bad knees. He is so tall for me I can rest my hand on his back as we walk along.  All the neighbor kids want to touch him and the ones who aren't too afraid I show how to put their fingers in and let him smell the back of their hands . He hasn't had much experience with children because of his size they are mostly afraid of him. If children knew to be slow moving around a dog they wouldn't flinch when approached. One black boy named Shawn loves animals and especially loves Ginger but he approached her by running at her and boy did she jump back and would have bitten him if  I wouldn't have stopped him. I showed him how to give her his hand and told her it was OK he is a friend and she loved it when he petted her and paid attention to her. Then she started licking at a candy he had until I told him not to give her anymore. As far aToby's weight he looks like around 120 some people think 130 but won't have him weighed until he is due for his shots next month. I believe I told you at a year he was 27" from shoulder to ground .

When I put him in the garage at night with Ginger he has a bed on the floor and I put her in the big cage they both used as pups but in the daytime when it rains I let them chose their own beds he will always go to his baby bed as we call it and sometimes I find both of them inside it together.

As you can tell we are so happy to have him and I watch him constantly from my kitchen window as I work around . I make sure they get cookie bones everyday so they will both know they are loved. NOw if I can just get Ginger not to dig anymore like Toby we might even be able to grow grass out there and look like a nice yard again. This winter it has been a muc hole by the backdoor and of course they drag it into the garage and get my shoes dirty when they step on me. I am using a coke can with pennies in it to teach her not to dig and not to jump on me just like I did with Toby . Time will tell if she ever learns. I'm glad Derek finally remembered to send you the pictures. Eventually I will learn how to do this myself. I hate reading how to do it manuals they are entirely too thick. bye for now Jackie

Breeders note.  Toby is the Kimmelot dog, I think Ginger is a rescue.

Hi Whisper,

Just wanted to let you and Dawn know that Precious, (AKA Feona) made it home with us without any trouble. She was the perfect passenger and car companion. She behaved beautifully. She is one long dog! When she lays across the backseat of the car, she nearly covers the entire length of the seat.

She check out perfectly at the Vet. Her weight and physique were ideal, her ears and eyes check out perfectly and her heart was beating strong, perfect pulse and no murmurs. She weighed in at 37-1/2 pounds. She had no evidence of fleas and her teeth were excellent. She was a very good girl at the Vet. There is some redness in the whites of one of her eyes and I will watch that closely.

She did not take to walking on leash right away but welcomes it now. She walks close to me and strays just a bit to explore her new surroundings. We are surrounded by hills and paths, lots to explore and traverse. She has not be able to figure out stairs yet. She is fearful of climbing stairs and has only twice descended the stairs. She is eating and drinking normally I guess as she is pooping and peeing regularly.

Which brings me to our one fascination with her. So far since in our possession, she has not gone potty outside. I have logged several hours walking her, taking her outside, etc. only to have her poop and pee after bringing her inside. This is after over an hour with her outside each time. We have figured her out that within 5 minutes of bringing her in after her time outside (which in each instance was a substantial amount of time), she relieves herself. So this morning, I take her out for 35 minutes. Nothing. I bring her in an watch her closely. She starts to hunch a poop, I tell her no potty here, I take her outside and spend another 25 minutes with her. Nothing. I bring her back in, brush my teeth and during that time, she pooped. Any advice? Are we doing anything wrong? She is not relieving herself all over the house. She is doing so in the same vicinity of her previous accidents.

We are tickled to have her. Our family and friends have met her and all love her. She is playing nicely with the other family dogs (two 3 year old Golden Retrievers) and neighborhood dogs. She bonds quickly with kids and grown -ups too!

I will send you pictures just as soon as they are ready (shot 2 rolls on Saturday).

Thanks again for this gem. We are looking forward to her growth and maturation and to the companionship she will and is providing.

Take care.

Rich and Sandy Rosemont

Dawn's note:  "She's just nervous about "going" on a leash or in the Golden's territory. Leash her inside, and put some pine shavings where she's to "go" outside.

Hi Dawn,

Thought you might enjoy a picture of Spirit(City/Ryker pup) celebrating her birthday with my granddaughter Eryn. Eryn turned 3 on the 16th and Spirit was 1 on the 29th. They adore each other. Eryn says Spirit is the bestest dog in the whole world ! Spirit is very good with her but has knocked down a few times while playing. But that's been ok with Eryn so far after a few tears.

Spirit has completed a basic and advanced novice obedience class and is now in an attention class. She is a very smart girl and a joy to train. She is very good with the Yorkies, but sure enjoys herding them! She is a mama's girl though and wants to be with me most of the time.

She is a beautiful, intelligent girl and we love her to pieces. My son and daughter-in-law say they want one of your pups when they are ready for their next dog.

Hi Dawn!
Hmm, little Colt is another story. Poor little guy has had problems from the start. Joe bought him when he was 12 weeks old. By the time Colt was six months old, he had surgery on his elbow to remove a piece of bone that had not fused properly and was basically floating around in the joint and threatening to cause an early arthritis. Then, about a month after that, he developed a pancreatic insufficiency syndrome, which I understand is a genetic disorder that would have developed at some point before he was a year old anyway but was brought on sooner as a result of the stress of surgery. As I'm sure you know, the pancreatic insufficiency means he's unable to produce the enzymes he needs to digest his food. So we have to add them to every meal he eats (at a cost of about $100 a month). Keeping weight on him is a real struggle. He's taller and longer than Ruger, much bigger boned, yet his weight fluctuates between 89 and 93 pounds. Ruger is holding steady at 105. I haven't missed an opportunity to remind Joe that breeding is everything and he should have waited for one of your dogs!!! Needless to say, he won't be making that mistake again!

I'm thinking that next time (probably after our little Lucky is gone), we should get a female from you so we can have puppies from Ruger. He's such a fabulous dog, it would be a shame to never let him have pups.

Best wishes for the new year!
Jan

Dawn's note: Not being critical, any breeder can have problems like this, and not claiming that the only way to prevent getting a puppy with problems is buying from us. We try to prevent it in our Kimmelot dogs, and one of the ways we do, besides carefully choosing bloodlines to blend, is also by feeding NuVet Plus suppliments with the enzymes. Give every puppy plenty of room to play and run for hours every day at will, super premium high meat food, not too much grain, 500 mg of vitamin C daily till about 35 lbs then 1000mg of vitamin C a day , plus 1 to 2 Nuvet Plus suppliment wafers a day (depending on if your dog has trouble putting on weight) . www.nuvet.com/37945 Nuvets are so important to feeding German Shepherds, that we just won't guarantee puppies raised without them. Any German Shepherd can tend to be low on pancreatic enzymes, it's common in the breed. Call 800-474-7044 to order and use number # 37945 for a 15% discount. And buy your next dog from Kimmelot, if you get a chance.
Dawn,

My name is Michelle Myska, my family adopted our Bailey Belle from you in March of 2002. She is a fantastic girl, and we are considering breeding her. However, we do not know much about the process. We have spoken to a few people who have AKC males, but since we are so pleased with Bailey we were wondering if you had any non-related males that she could breed with. Bailey is the daughter of LFR Elegant Evening Eli, and LFR Redgold Jewel. She was born on 01/17/02. Please let me know what your suggestions are.

Hi Dawn and Whisper,

I thought you might like a couple of pictures of Raider at one week short of six months. He now weighs 70 lbs and as you can see is a very handsome fellow except for the dirt on his nose.  He's smart as a whip, friendly to
all manner of man and dog, and always evokes compliments from passersby.
Happily he is no longer acting like Grandma Mako. We are now working on his urge to chase vehicles - his preference is garbage trucks.  This is why we
love puppies.

Thanks for advising your new e-mail, change of address and phone number

We bought a Goldie/Eli pup from you March of 2003. She has her C.G.C. and C.D. She earned her C.D. in October. She will be two this Jan 21 and we will have her x-rayed. If all goes well and she is Good or Excellent we will be looking for a stud that is the same. I ran into a gal with a Bi colored, young dog at the Roseville obedience show this past year that I was impressed with. His breeder was in Grass Valley. I haven't followed through in locating them yet as I want the X-rays first. She will be due in heat April. Do you have or know of stud dog OFA Excellent or Good, normal or "a" stamp, Black & Tan or Red, Bi, or black here locally that might qualify. I'm not interested in breeding to a sable.

Hi Dawn.

Thought you'd like to see how Shady is doing. Hard to get her to sit still for a photo. She's finished basic obedience and we'll move on to intermediate after the holidays. She's a willful teenager, but a beautiful and sweet girl. You would be proud.

Happy Holidays

Hi Dawn!
I know it's been forever since I've written. But I wanted to send you a note to let you know how Ruger is doing. As you may recall, I was hoping when I bought him that he would one day be a therapy dog (besides just being my best friend). Last year at this time I started working with a trainer and in October Ruger got his AKC Canine Good Citizen certification. Today he passed his therapy dog testing with an outstanding rating. He did great on the basic obedience testing and he was polite and well-behaved around the other dogs. On the "distractions" portion of the test, he was absolutely unflappable (the evaluator tipping over chairs, walking on crutches, dropping pans, pushing carts/wheelchairs, etc.). He was friendly, calm and outgoing with strangers/staff at the hospice facility where we will be working (and where he was tested). He visited with a patient and her sister who were sitting in the "living room" of the facility when we came in and they asked to meet him. He shook hands and gave kisses when requested, and he got lots of pets in return. I was so proud of him I could hardly stand it! The evaluator and hospice staff felt were were going to be a great therapy team. The evaluator (who has two shepherds of his own) commented a couple of times about Ruger's outstanding temperament and breeding.

So I thought I'd pass along the news. Thank you so much for helping me find the perfect dog for me! I'm attaching a photo of Ruger that was taken while hiking this past week. He's hot, tired and dusty, so it's not a great photo (besides which, it's hard to get a good photo of these sable dogs!). But I promise to send another when Ruger gets his official therapy dog vest from Therapy Dogs, Inc. Thanks again, Dawn! Christmas came early for me this year!

Best wishes and happy holidays!

HI Dawn Hope every thing is well.

Here is a picture of  Dax,  she is such a smart and loving dog, You have a great line going.  I will be in touch for stud service,  this line must continue.

Hi Dawn,

Just to refresh your memory...
My name is Frank Pesek. We purchased a male German Shepherd puppy from on March 29th. One of the pups from Ryker/Kiara. We named him Brego. He is developing into quite a specimen. We always get compliments on him when we are walking.

I was wondering if you can give me some advice on breeding him? Is it worth it? Would you be interested in using him? I know I'd need to get his hips OFA certified. What do you think?

Frank

Here's another picture of him chewing on some grass.

Is he fairly calm?  Actually h e is a great dog, and very calm most of the time except for occasion flashes of puppy over exuberance when playing with something.  I'm glad I he has a strong collar and leash,  because he really wants to chase cars and trucks, especially the loud ones.  We just started "bite inhibition" training with him last week and his bite is getting gentler, but he pays attention to my "ouch" more than others.  He has so many chew toys, ropes, balls, tugs, and chew treats that my wife calls him the world's most spoiled dog, but other than a few nibbles on some shoes he has not really chewed up anything.

Raider was completely house training  in less than two weeks, and has learned to sit, down, crate, come, leave it - most of the time, and to not bolt out the front door - at least when his Daddy is there.

I've been walking him on flexi-leash and socializing him with people, and friendly dogs.  A couple of "friendly" dogs snapped at him, but he was unfazed.  He is interested in everything.  He's so cute/handsome, some people will even stop their cars to look at him.  His presence quickly sorts out the "dog people" from the "non-dog people."

Elegant Evening Tora

Hi, I emailed you several months ago...We bought a pup whose father is one of yours or your daughters, Eli. I never did hear from her. That's ok. I wanted to send you a picture of our girl, Elegant Evening Tora. She is the best pup we have ever had and a very treasured member of our family. I do want to breed her once before my husband has her spayed. (she is his baby). I am interested to know what you have available to breed her to, I will be keeping one pup for myself. Thanks,

PS...This picture is a couple of months old, she has really lightened up a lot and is twice the size, she is a beautiful girl.

Hi Dawn.
Here's the photo we promised you of our two pups. We adore them and we're sending our sister to buy two pups from your next litter! We are so glad we came to your house, there is no comparison to your quality ! These dogs are the smartest, biggest, and most beautiful ever! Our vet is very impressed.

Francine Arnett

Max and Tosha at 6months old.

Just wanted to let ya'll know the puppy is fitting in just fine. His definitely much different than Aurora. We like his Independence.

Luke, you looked at me funny when I told you his name. This is where our puppy gets his name. Keep in mind me and Ken are both in the Coast Guard, have over 15 years time at sea between the 2 of us (I am currently assigned to a cutter), and love the sea and sky. Canopus resides in the constellation Carina, The Keel. Carina is one of three modern-day constellations that formed the ancient constellation of Argo Navis, the ship Jason and the Argonauts sailed in to search for the Golden Fleece. Two other constellations form the Sail (Vela) and Stern (Puppis). Another version says that The name Canopus is derived from Greek mythology. The constellation of Carina once belonged to a much larger group of stars called Argo Navis, or the ship Argo. This is claimed to be the ship which carried Greek troops home from the Trojan War and Canopus was the name of the ship's pilot. Finally, Canopus is the Egyptian god of water. The Chaldeans worshiped fire, and sent all the other gods a challenge, which was accepted by a priest of Canopus. The Chaldeans lighted a vast fire. Then the Egyptian deity spouted out torrents of water and quenched it. In modern odysseys, spacecraft such as Voyager 2 used the light from Canopus to orient themselves in the sea of space. Canopus is a true powerhouse. Its brilliance from our terrestrial vantage point is due more to its great luminosity than its proximity. Though 316 light-years away, No. 2 on our list is 14,800 times the intrinsic luminosity of the Sun. (Recall that the brightest star, Sirius, is just 8.5 light-years distant. We named the puppy based on our love of stars, sky, and the sea. I think it fits our family! I hope all goes well you.

Happy holidays to all of our friends!

We had a challenging outing this evening. We made the journey to the Fashion Fair Mall for the pets with Santa photo op. It was wonderful. The boxers (Zima and Sarah) were soaking up all of the onlookers attention. The German Shepherds (Falco and Seiko) were in it for the treats. The Yorkie (Legolas) really liked the baby dachshund in front of us and amazingly didn't growl at anyone.

Amazingly enough everyone behaved (we wont count the numerous times the boxers passed gas while waiting in line.) Sarah and Seiko wore their Santa hats to cover their taped ears so when we look back on it many years from now they wont remember how embarrassing it was to be ear challenged.  Thank you for sharing the last year with us and hopefully we will talk again before the holidays, but if not, please have a wonderful and safe holiday season.

 Hi Dawn.

I thought that I would send you some pictures of Panzer. He is turning into a wonderful dog. He's feisty and bold but a big baby all the same. He loves bones, cow hooves, squeaky toys and my fingers! He is getting along better with the cats every day and learning that they are not toys. He is great with his big sister Ava. He watches her and learns. We have begun training with him. He knows sit, down, stay, give-me-your-paw and he is getting better on walking with a leash.  I hope you enjoy the pictures. He will be four months old soon and is already weighing in at 48 pounds. He is growing so fast! One picture I'm sending is of Panzer on 10-7-03, the rest are of him on 11-03-03. Can you believe the difference?

Well, thank you for sending Mike and I a great puppy. He is a part of our family now and we love him very much.

Sincerely,

Hi Dawn,
We have moved to the mountain house and Lady has taken full ownership! She loves it! Here she is with our Alpha female AJ, (Lady is the boss now!) and she is 52 lbs. She is the daughter of Eli and Moxie from Whisper's litter in July 9,2003.

Hello Dawn,

Just a little update on Dela she has gained 6.5 lbs. and growing. She a great dog...she can sit, come and is learning stay at the moment. She sill learning that the cat doesn't want to play with her. Has there been any follow up with the airlines? Any refund on the shipping yet? How do I send your carrier back to you! And her ears are starting to stand up more!

Dria and Ryker sent her a teddy bear! It's the only toy she hasn't killed. She plays with it and talks to it. It's the cutest thing. Everyone in the family just babies her, she is so spoiled. She was awesome at Halloween with all the door bell ringing and different people out in costumes. She seemed to enjoy it. (And no we didn't dress her up!) Well, just wanted to touch base with you. And let you know about your grandbaby!

Stella Estasi

Hi Dawn,
This is Shell from Fresno, I have one of your puppies lol though she isn't a little puppy anymore. I have Stella Estasi, baby from Ryker and Bella.
I thought I would share a couple of pictures of Stella and me. Stella turned 1 in Aug. I want you to know how much of a joy my baby girl is. Having her has saved my life/health. Since having Stella I have lost 147lbs. I had gastric bypass surgery, but due to having Stella, I had to get up and move move move, we walk 3 miles a day and up to 6 on the weekends, we go to the park, obedience classes, lake, everywhere. If I didn't have my Stella I wouldn't be as active as I am. She is such fun and a pleasure to take EVERYWHERE that I go go go with her. People who meet her just adore her and she them. Stella is a little social butterfly :o)
Thanks again for breeding such wonderful, loving, and precious German Shepherds! Hope you enjoy the pics.

Hugs, Shell and Stella

Dear Dawn,

We have named her "Reina" for her regal demeanor.  As you requested, I have enclosed a couple of pics for you.  She is an amazing dog.  I am really impressed with her composure and intelligence at this early age.

Keep in touch.

Reina

Hello Dawn,

She really is smart...are they all like that? I mean, German Shepherd pups. Is this one unusual? I really am astonished by her composure and confidence. We are teaching her and she displays extraordinary confidence. She doesn't attack her food and is not driven by hunger. She doesn't lick, pant, pee or jump wildly, like most pups do, when we arrive even though it is clear that she is very happy with our affections. She barks only when something seems threatening [ie. neighbor, dog] to her. She also seems mischievous as we play with her. She has a gentle, teething bite which she uses on my hand as I pet her. I assume that this is her manner of displaying affection. She does this without slobbering. Am I misunderstanding? I am so impressed by her that I don't want to do anything to ruin her.

I also need information about the nutrition supplements that you guys recommend. Whisper mentioned it and perhaps there's something about it in the binder but I don't have that with me now. Who is the supplier, what does it cost and how often does she need it?
Also you mentioned that she likes yogurt. Plain yogurt or the sugary stuff everyone else eats?

Finally what is the benefit of registering her with the AKC? Are her parents registered with either the AKC or the OSA? Whisper thought they were but I never found either online.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Dawn.
On 9/17/03 we received our puppy, a son of Fero's, who we named Panzer. On a personal note, Panzer is a wonderful puppy. He is growing by leaps and bounds. His coloring is very dark and rich. His temperment is great. He's bold but takes commands rather well and gets along great with our 3-year old German Shepherd, Ava. All of his baby fur is gone and his adult fur is beautiful so far. We've already gone through two collars because he is growing so fast. He has taken well to the crate training. We had to purchase a new crate shortly after we got him because of his size. I will be sending you your crate soon. I'm sorry that we don't have a picture to send you over the net but we have yet to get a digital camera. Someday. However, when I send the crate back to you I will include pictures of him.

Thank you for sending us a wonderful dog.
