Angel Kennels West Highland White Terriers

Angel Kennels is proud and happy to announce that it now has, in addition to the “Scotsman’s” Scottish and Cairn Terriers, a third “perfect Scot’s or Scot’s Lover’s” pet-the Westie! Westies, or more formally known as West Highland White Terriers, have a spirited personality, piercing black eyes that invite you to “take me home and love me”, and a very distinctive white coat. They are a mascot for Black & White (a Scotch whisky) and are on the packaging of Cesar brand dog food-what a dog!

Westies are related to Cairn Terriers, who once and awhile whelped white puppies naturally, and Scottish Terriers who also occasionally produced white offspring. Some historians state that Colonel Edward Malcolm in the Argyll region of western Scotland originated the breed in the 1800’s. Other sources state that the 8th Duke of Argyll originated the breed; but whoever really did, we are grateful for such a perky, attractive, attentive, loving breed!

The West Highland White Terrier was listed as an official breed in 1907 at the Crufts dog show in England. The Westies were bred originally for hunting small animals such as rabbits, squirrels, and mice so don’t be surprised if, left to their own devices, they don’t present you with a “gift”!

Westies are a neat breed to have as a pet. They fit into the beautiful, serene countryside; the suburbs of the mighty city, or the city high-rise apartment life. They just want to be loved and pampered the minute you meet them and at the same time are a rough and ready friend! They are easy to train as they are highly intelligent and are a devoted family member, ready and willing to participate in whatever activity the family is doing. We feel blessed that our Westies have decided to call our home, home! Naturally our puppies are AKC registered and our original Westies have Angelic names(St. Gab, St. Mary, St. Frances, and St. Theresa).

We do ship in the USA at the buyer’s expense (usually about $325 will get your “wee one” to you all cuddly, warm and safe by a major airline). Pet prices vary between $600-$750 or with breeding rights approximately $850-$1000. What a small price to pay for total love and devotion for years to come!!
