The Non-Sporting Group
Think of the term 'companion animals' and you'll understand the AKC's Non-Sporting Group. These dogs were not bred for a specific function, but that doesn't mean they are without talents. What these dogs have in common is their ability to become part of our lives.
They couldn't be more different. Nothing looks quite like a Chinese Shar-Pei, wrinkled and sleek at the same time. Dalmatians are certainly the only dog most of us can picture riding on the back of a fire truck and French Bulldogs have captured the hearts and laps of many Americans in the past decade.
Their differences are pronounced, but their ability to joyfully co-exist with people is well documented. Willing and easy to train, all of the dogs from the Non-Sporting Group make wonderful companions. With a little research, you'll determine the right one for you.
