Breeds of the Miscellaneous Group share one key characteristic in common: a pending status of recognition as an official breed registerable by the AKC. Breeds of this group remain in limbo until the AKC Board of Directors deems an appropriate genetic foundation and founding parties have been significantly established. Miscellaneous Breeds are registered by the AKC Foundation Stock Service until granted full registration status. As of August 4th, 2010, a total of 10 Breeds belong to the Miscellaneous Group.
