An Owner's Walker Coonhound Description
There are just too many scents blowing in the wind to choose a single one but given a choice, my Walker Coonhound would rather chase a raccoon than anything else. He'll pursue the coon until he has it up a tree and will not give an inch of ground until I arrive.

I have to keep Skedaddle confined fairly close to the house because once he's onto a scent he's off and running and there's no stopping him. His nose will pull him toward a coon and he won't be able to rest until he takes it up a tree. And though the coon might feel safe there, Skedaddle won't let him ever leave unless I say it's okay.

When it comes to chasing these hairy pests, I don't think I could have asked for a more dependable dog than Skedaddle. He's got a tremendous amount of grit and determination and totally enjoys his work, all of which makes my job much easier.

Skedaddle has become an excellent companion to hang around with, too. The kids used to pester him just enough to irritate him so that he'd get up and go off to be by himself. Not one to play with the children or put up with a lot of their chatter. But he seems to truly enjoy my company, as I do his. And that's all right - he's my dog, after all.

Skedaddle is somewhat lazy in the hot summer months but no amount of sleepy Sundays can replace the adrenaline rush he gets when he catches scent of his favorite vermin. Favorite to chase, that is.
