An Owner's Swedish Vallhund Description
Have you ever had dreams of being the world's greatest athlete? Maybe you wanted to run faster or jump higher than anyone else? Perhaps you thought your strength could be super human and you could stop an oncoming train?

Then you wake up and discover your legs are too short and you can't jump very high and you certainly can't run all that fast. You're strong but not nearly the strongest. Oh well, the dream is over, the day beginning. What will you do?

If you are anything like my Swede, Rudy, then giving up or giving less than 120% is just not an option. Other dogs routinely out perform him in competitions but Rudy will be the last dog standing and still performing. He loves to perform and it makes no difference if he wins or loses, he gives it his best.

I don't know if he actually ever dreams of greatness or thinks he is the best ever, but by his sheer determination and endurance one could easily come to that conclusion. You'll never see his tail tucked between his legs in defeat. He competes as a joyous competitor and that's all there is to it. Now if he had to sit on the sidelines and watch other dogs go through their paces and he never got the opportunity to do his thing, well, that would be heartbreaking and his spirit would be crushed for sure.

Rudy is a very happy dog and I attribute that to his being able to work and perform at various competitions. He loves to chase Frisbees and puts on quite a flying act in the process, much to the delight of spectators. His somewhat long body and short legs make for a Peculiar Flying Object (PFO) that contorts in mid-air to grab the flying saucer-shaped disc (UFO). He may just be the greatest PFO to ever catch a UFO!
