Siberian Husky Description, Straight from the Dog's Mouth
North to Alaska and beyond. Onward to the Artic! Feed me, or help me find food and keep me warm at night. I'll search for the lost and deliver medicines to the sick no matter how cold and how snowy it gets.
Save me from the frozen nights. Never leave me unless you are seeking help, but return to me by morning or else I will die upon the ice, frozen by the cold or I will perish of loneliness without a master, but I'll die just the same.
Tireless and relentless to the end, you can forge the trail you need for us to pull my sled. Mush, Nakona, onward! Lead the team with courage and strength. Be strong! Chase away the white Polar bear that master can sleep without fear. Oh, Nakona, such a loyal one you are. I know not why I have brought you here or why I make you stay. Centuries ago, we walked across the sea and you were with my ancestors then just as you are with me now.
By fire and stars we sleep, within an ice dome we keep warm until the frozen sun rises; then we move on. An endless tale is written of our life and how it cycles back to the beginning, that we may start it over again. Oh, Nakona, I treasure what you have given me that I may return something to you, as well.
I can see within your eyes your love and devotion to me, Nakona. You have shown your faithfulness in unfavorable times, shared your food with me in generosity, and kept me warm with every breath you exhaled. I'll treasure you always for the love you have given me, Nakona, my friend.
Introduction
This breed has its origins in the Chukchi breed line of the Siberian Artic of some 3000 years ago. Siberians are well known as a working dogs, pulling sleds great distances and herding reindeer. They can weigh up to 60 lbs. Their strong, rigid bodies are covered by a thick, medium coat that comes in a variety of colors. These dogs are very loyal to their family and make great pets.
Colors
black and white, Jet black, silver (dilute) black and redish black, Grey, Wolf Grey, Silver, Sable, Copper, Chocolate Copper.Living Area
Since Siberian have thick, woolly coats, they are ideal for people who live in areas with cool climates. Should the owner live in a tropical country, air-conditioning for the dog is a must. This is an outdoor type of breed and would be perfetly happy with a straw bed outside, although most do not have the possibility of having an outdoor dog at all times. Plus the fact that most dogs are now becoming more social pets and family members. Dogs have moved indoors. A Siberian can be perfectly happy in an appartment if trained from a pup to enjoy the tight but cozy way of living, thoe it is not recomended. As long as this dog gets what he needs in exersize he is adaptable to most kinds of living conditions.Recognized By
