An Owner's Tibetan Kyi Apso Description
Are you into hard-to-find and very rare things? Then let me introduce you to Beardsley, my Tibetan Kyi Apso. He's definitely one of a kind, and a member of a rare breed of dog. He likes being in control and at times, he can be somewhat aggressive toward other dogs that he's not familiar with; however, we haven't had any real incidents. This may mainly be due to the fact that Beardsley spends most of his time out in the pasture with our cattle. He absolutely loves the livestock. There have been days that he won't even come in for dinner.
Beardsley isn't a loner, but he does choose his company carefully. He has to become extremely comfortable with you before he will allow you into his small circle of friends, unless you are a cow, that is! He accepts all cows as friends, with the exception of the old bull that considers the herd to be his own; he lets Beardsley know that with an occasional head butt. The two of them may never be friends, but then again, you just never know with Beardsley.
If there is one dog that could manage to win over the affection of a cantankerous old bull, I'd have to say that it would be him. He's not easily discouraged and his profound fondness of the cattle may, in time, win this aging old bull over. Recently I've seen signs of that happening; the bull is allowing Beardsley to get closer and closer without any sort of agitation. It could be that some sort of understanding has been reached between the two of them and that is a friendship in the making. We'll just have to wait and see how their relationship turns out.
