English Springer Spaniel

History

The English Springer Spaniel happens to be the initial hunting breed among the Spaniels. During the Renaissance period, these dogs were considered the suitable hunting companions of the Europeans. It was not until 1700 that they become popular in America. The name Springer came from its act of flushing wild prey by springing forward.

General Description

The English Springer Spaniel is a hearty, medium size compact dog. The dog has a docked tail and its coat is relatively long with additional feathering on the legs, chest, ears, brisket, and chest. Its pendulous ears are soft and dangle to the sides and its face reveals a very gentle expression.
